Joan C. Sarafin, MAA, Chair

Joan Sarafin has worked in the Assessors Office since 1973. She became an Assessor in 1979 and Chair of the Board of Assessors in 1989. She became a Massachusetts Accredited Assessor in 1981, after a series of courses at the University of Massachusetts. She has been re-certified twice since her designation, continuing to take courses at the University given by the Massachusetts Assessors Association. She has been President of the Hampden-Hampshire Assessors Association for the past five years.

Joseph G. Cross, Secretary

Joseph G. Cross is a life long resident of the City of Northampton.
He was the Head Administrator at the Hampshire County Registry of Deeds from 1971 to 1990. He also served as the Head Administrative Assistant at theHampshire County Probate and Family Court from 1980 to 1990. He was a Licensed Real Estate Appraiser from 1990 to 1997. Joe has served as a City Assessor since 1997.
