Public Meeting Notices
Public meetings are always posted in City Hall, outside the City Clerk’s office and appear weekly in the Daily Hampshire Gazette.
The Northampton City Council meets on the first and third Thursday of the month with Public Comment beginning at 7:15 p.m. The meetings are held in City Council Chambers in the Puchalski Building, 212 Main Street. The Northampton School Committee meets on the second and fourth Thursday of the month with Public Comment beginning at 7:15 p.m. The meetings are held in the Community Room at the JFK Middle School, 100 Bridge Road. There are more than two dozen citizen Boards and Commissions in Northampton. Hundreds of residents serve as volunteers on these boards, helping to maintain and promote the high quality of life we all enjoy in Northampton through their efforts. Academy of Music Board of Trustees
Description of Board: New members are appointed by the Board of Trustees. The Mayor and the President of Smith College serve ex-officio, although they may name a designee. The Board oversees the operation of the historic Academy of Music Theatre.

Arts Council
Description of Board: The Mayor appoints and City Council confirms between 5 and 22 members for 3-year terms, no more than two consecutive terms. None of the members may be elected officials. Members must demonstrate scholarship or creativity in, or distinguished service to the Arts, Humanities or Interpretive Sciences. Arts Council distributes Arts Lottery funds and supports and nurtures arts activities in the community.

Description of Board: The Mayor appoints and City Council confirms members to seven-person board in February to serve three year terms.

Capital Improvements Committee
Description of Board: Mayor appoints City residents to serve three year terms on this seven member committee, one member each from Finance, School and Planning Departments. The Committee plans capital outlays for the coming six years and presents an annual report to the Council.
Meeting time: Variable; meets once a year over a period of two to three months.
Meeting place: Varies; all meetings will be posted at City Clerk’s Office

Center for The Arts
Description of Board: Mayor appoints and Council confirms members of the fifteen person board in February to begin serving five-year terms in March. The Board oversees management and public use of the Arts space in the Sullivan School Building. They may set fees, seek funds and oversee the Art Manager or Technical Director of the Center.
