Recycling

Northampton accepts recyclables at the Locust Street Transfer Station. Bulky materials and difficult to manage wastes are accepted at the Glendale Road Transfer Station only. For more information on these facilities and fees, click Solid Waste in the side bar.

For more information: contact Deb Laizer by email (dlaizer@northamptonma.gov) or by phone (413-587-1570 ext. 4306).

Vehicle permits required for access to Northampton’s two transfer stations are available from attendants at each facility as well as the DPW office (8:30-4:00 Monday-Friday).

This permit costs $25 for residential vehicles, $5 for a second vehicle from the same household. Income–eligible residents may receive a discount (of up to $60 per fiscal year) through the DPW office. Permits for non-resident caregivers can also be obtained at the DPW office. For more information click Solid Waste in the side bar.
