Mission Statement

Through professionalism, dedication, integrity and training the Northampton Fire Department works to safeguard the lives and property and to enhance the quality of life of the people of Northampton. This will be accomplished by providing a vast range of emergency services, strong public relations and fire safety education. We also endeavor to protect and preserve the health of our membership and return our personnel safely to their families.

Boards and Committees

The Fire Department is overseen by the Public Safety subcommittee of the City Council. The Public Safety Committee meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in Hearing Room 18, City Hall, 210 Main Street, Northampton.

Members of the Fire Department also staff a number of other committees, including the Northampton Triad Committee, the Western Mass Long-Range Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and the Western Mass. Fire Chiefs Association.
