The Parking Division will provide the parking customers of Northampton with a clean, safe, well maintained and user friendly parking experience that will add to and not detract from their Northampton visit.

Many New England communities ban parking on city streets all winter long, but in Northampton, the city will call a parking ban only when the weather and ongoing snow removal efforts warrant it. This allows residents and visitors to park more conveniently to their homes for most of the winter while allowing the Department of Public Works and public safety departments to do their jobs efficiently when the weather turns bad.

Winter Parking Bans will be listed on the Winter Hotline - 413.586.6969. You can also sign up to get an email notice whenever a parking ban is called by joining the DPW alerts list on the city's homepage. We also send notice to the Gazette, television stations 40 and 22, and WHMP radio - am 1400, but we cannot guarantee that the media will publish our notices. We encourage all residents to check the winter info phone line, even in the days following a winter storm. Even when there is no snow or ice falling, the DPW sometimes requires parking bans to go back through the neighborhoods and pick up the plowed snow and ice to make roads more passable for emergency vehicles.
