MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN II
One Permanent Full-time Vacancy (40 Hr/week)
(Schedule Varied as Needed)
Grade & Hourly Wage Range: Grade 7; $15.5284 - $19.6691
DEFINITION:
Manual and technical work in the maintenance and repair of all plant equipment, buildings, and grounds; all other related work as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not all inclusive):
Repairs and maintains facility machinery, assists with electrical work, pump stations, and other equipment as required; responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of all plant equipment; consults with machine shops and parts vendors; records maintenance and repair activity.
Performs maintenance and repair tasks on buildings, structures, and grounds including laboring and custodial tasks such as painting, cutting grass, and cleaning floors.
Drives sludge truck. Assists in flood control operation as required.
Performs similar or related work and plows and sands as required or as situation dictates.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalency; two years experience in the maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment equipment; or any equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
General knowledge of wastewater machinery and equipment and their functions.
Basic mechanical aptitude; ability to use a variety of basic power and hand tools.
Massachusetts Class B Commercial Driver’s license required. MA Hoisting Engineer’s License 2B required.
Residency within 15 miles of the physical boundaries of the City of Northampton is desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Strenuous physical effort required with frequent exertion and heavy lifting. Must be able to access all areas of multi level facility. Eyesight and hearing at or correctable to "normal ranges."
