Economic Development Director Terrence J. Masterson

Appointed by Mayor Narkewicz, Terry Masterson began working as the City's new Economic Development Director on 12/3/12.

Terry helps support the Mayor's efforts to create a greater presence for business development and economic development within City government. Mayor and the Economic Development Director work with City Councilors and City Departments to create a supportive business environment, promote business development, promote workforce development and job creation, provide business assistance, and create opportunities for sustainable economic growth in Northampton. more

Economic Development Advisory Commission

PURPOSE:
To advise the Mayor on economic development policies and strategies guided by the Sustainable Northampton Comprehensive Plan that will expand the tax base, create employment, create a supportive and competitive business environment, market Northampton, and enhance communication with the business community.

Specifically, the Mayor’s EDAC will advise on:
• Business retention, expansion, and attraction
• Identifying and promoting compatible industry sectors or businesses
• Attracting and supporting new business start-ups and entrepreneurs
• Marketing and tourism
• Identifying workforce needs and programs
• Regulatory streamlining
• Identifying barriers to business development and recommend solutions
• Identifying resources and partnerships to support economic development
• Identifying regional economic development opportunities
• Other matters as identified or referred to the EDAC for study
