E. John Gare Parking Garage

The garage is located at the end of Armory Street, which can be reached via Pleasant Street or Hampton Avenue. The garage has a capacity of more than 430 vehicles on 4 levels of clean, safe parking. There is a convenient covered walkway from the Parking Garage to Thornes Marketplace on the second level. The Parking Garage is open 24 hours a day. The first hour is free, and parking is 50 cents an hour after that.

Municipal Parking Lots

City Parking Lots are equipped with Pay-and-Display ticket machines instead of traditional parking meters. When you park in one of the City lots, look for the nearest coin-operated yellow ticket dispenser. You may buy as much time as you think you will be downtown (you may want to build in a little extra time for running into old friends on Main Street or stopping for a cappuccino). Then return to your car and place the timed ticket face up on the driver's side dashboard.

There is a free commuter parking lot at Sheldon Field, off of Bridge Street, available and convenient for people carpooling or commuting via the PVTA over the Coolidge Bridge. There is a small parking lot owned by the Commonwealth by the entrance to the Norwottuck Rail Trail on Damon Road for use of the Rail Trail.

Downtown Northampton has on-street parking meters. On-street parking in downtown Florence is free.

Parking meters in city lots and on city streets are enforced Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Parking on Sundays is free.
