Northampton Community Garden

New Gardener Registration

Time: Begins at 10:00 a.m., until 12:00 p.m.
First come-first serve
Location: Florence Community Center, Pine St., Florence
(the former Florence Grammar School)

The annual fee for a plot is $22. Gardeners are expected to contribute 2 hours annually in community service tasks.

First-year gardeners are limited to a single plot per household. Applicants may live outside Northampton; there is an additional fee.

The Community Garden is located on Burts Pit Road, just beyond the old State Hospital. It is under the auspices of the Northampton Recreation Department and managed by a Garden Committee

There are 7 acres of land dedicated to Community Garden. The site is improved with a tool shed, fencing, shrub hedges, a composting area and running water.

There are 420 plots measuring 20' by 20'. Registration is usually held on the last Saturday in March. Call the Recreation Department to confirm date and time, 413-587-1040.

The Garden is managed and maintained completely by gardeners. Each person contributes a minimum of 2 hours per year.
