Step Up To Health

As part of NRPA’s national Step Up to Health movement the Northampton Recreation Department has been designated as an NRPA Step Up to Health Community. This designation follows their participation and community activation at a Step Up to Health…It Starts In Parks summit event held in Connecticut.

The Step Up to Health…It Starts In Parks summits serve as a rally call from NRPA to encourage local park and recreation agencies and professionals to step up and take a leadership role in their community in the fight against the nation’s health and obesity epidemic. Agencies pledge to include and improve healthy lifestyle opportunities in their communities by increasing public awareness of available programming, among other things.

NRPA, with support from the National Football League Youth Football Fund, is leading this grassroots movement across the country.

The Recreation Department is excited about this initiative on improving and educating our community in the area of health, wellness, livability and nutrition.
