Benchwalk 2015

The Youth Commission organized Benchwalk, a collaborative public art project between the commission, local businesses, and artists which premiered in June 2015. The benches, painted by local artists and the Northampton elementary schools, are on display in the greater downtown area. This project aimed to celebrate Northampton and build connections between the commission and the community.

No Hate Space Assembly

The No Hate Space Anti-Bullying Assembly was held at Northampton High School on May 25, 2011. The commission organized and executed an assembly for all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to attend and learn about bullying at Northampton High School. With the help of members for the improv groups, Funktionlust and The Unusuals, the assembly included skits and audience feedback.

Holiday Giving

During the second week of December the Northampton Youth Commission raised $160 that was used to donate gift cards for teens to the Northampton Survival center.

Hot Chocolate Run

On December 2, 2006, the Northampton Youth Commission volunteered at the mayor’s hot chocolate run for Safe Passage. In addition to running, commissioners helped with registration, the food table, balloons, and most importantly the distribution of hot chocolate.
