2022-23 Boys Basketball Grades 5&6
WE NEED COACHES - JOIN THE FUN!!
This program is heavily dependent on volunteer coaches. If you or someone you know is interested in coaching in one of the divisions this season, please email Brooke at bfairman@northamptonma.gov with the coaches name, phone number, email address and division they are looking to coach.
Many divisions still need coaches, and won't be able to run otherwise. Additional spaces in a division may be added if there are enough folks on a waitlist AND enough coaches.
We offer two choices, a Skills Division (plays in-town only) and a Quabbin Valley Basketball League (travels to other towns). Scroll to read the options.
Skills Division
The skills divisions are for players who are playing basketball for the first time or are not ready to play in a more competitive league. Participants in this program will practice one weeknight and on Saturdays. Saturdays will also consist of scrimmages/games with the other Northampton team/s. Practices and scrimmages/games will only take place in Northampton. Participants will work on their skills and basketball knowledge through drills and games to improve their basketball skills and IQ. Parents will register their child and participants will be placed on a a team for the season. There are no evaluations for this division. Depending on numbers, the divisions are planned to be split into separate boys and girls divisions. However, if numbers don’t allow for that, the skills divisions will be coed.

Coaches Needed
Coaches and assistant coaches are needed each year for our teams. The basketball league has about 28 teams each year, and it wouldn't be successful without the dedication, knowledge and time given to the program by all of our amazing volunteers.
If you are interested in coaching, please indicate so when registering your child or contact us. If you do not have a player in the league or would like to contact us to coach, please email recreation@northamptonma.gov.
