Volunteer Opportunities
ReCenter Swap Shop and Community Programming Volunteers
We welcome volunteers from the greater Northampton area to help with community waste-reduction projects. If you are interested in joining the volunteer team, please contact the Solid Waste Coordinator at dpwinfo@northamptonma.gov or 413-587-1570.
Volunteers are typically needed for:
- The ReCenter Swap Shop (First and third Saturday mornings of each month from April through October)
- Seasonal pop-up events (periodic Saturday mornings, infrequent evenings) such as our Reuse & Recycling Rally, Community RePair, and the annual Toy Exchange
The Reuse Committee
Members of the ReUse Committee help the Department of Public Works promote waste-reduction. The nine-member advisory committee meets monthly, typically on the second or third Thursday of each month, from 8:30-9:30 AM. Visitors, and enthusiastic volunteers interested in planning discussions, are most welcome to attend. Please direct all questions regarding meeting details to dpwinfo@northamptonma.gov or 413-587-1570.
