Hampshire County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Recruitment
- The Hampshire County MRC is a national volunteer program dedicated to building strong, healthy and prepared communities. MRC has more than 800 trained volunteers with medical and non-medical experience. As the Northampton and Amherst vaccination clinics are being prepared, there is a more urgent need for volunteers to help with dispensing efforts. This program is managed by the Department of Public Health to identify local volunteers who can be contacted when needed. In order to be a volunteer, you must register using an online system called, MA Responds. A background check will be conducted.
- MRC volunteers are typically used for the following events:
- Annual flu clinics
- Staffing the emergency shelters
- Assisting with an EDS (Emergency Dispensing Site)
- Staffing a warming center or cooling center (during extreme weather conditions)
- Providing first aid at local community events

- When it asks you to select a unit, you’ll find the Hampshire County MRC listed under "Region 1"
- You are required to complete a background check (CORI/SORI) before you can volunteer as an MRC member.

Masks or Face Coverings Donations
- Donations Needed! Please donate Masks or Face Coverings. The Northampton Health Department issued orders, effective April 16, 2020, establishing that all consumers and employees wear face coverings at all times when social distancing can not be maintained, at any businesses providing essential services within the City of Northampton. The City and Cooley Dickinson Hospital have partnered to streamline collections, launder and package donations, and distribute. Residents who wish to donate approved face coverings should drop them off at Cooley Dickinson Hospital’s North Entrance, Monday through Friday, between 8 am and 4:30 pm.
United Way of Hampshire County
- Response Funds - United Way of Hampshire County has joined forces with United Way of Pioneer Valley and United Way of Franklin County on the Pioneer Valley Recovery & Relief Fund. The Recovery & Relief Fund will ensure long-term funding to partner agencies. This is vital to their ongoing work and success, during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond.
Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts
- You can also support the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts Response Fund which provides emergency funding to agencies impacted by COVID-19.
Feed the Front Line Western Mass Project
- The Western MA Area Labor Federation AFL-CIO is working to provide delicious meals from local restaurants to workers in Western Massachusetts on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic. Support this project by making a small donation.
