Musante Beach 2021

Will be opening for our 31st season on Memorial Day Weekend!!

  • David B. Musante Jr. Beach is located at 85 Reservoir Road in Leeds, MA 01053. 
  • We plan to open on weekends for our 31st season on Saturday May 29, 2021.
  • We are open weekends only from Memorial Day to June 19. We will operate daily from June 19 through Labor day weather permitting.
  • We have various ways to enjoy the beach this summer. Scroll below for fees.
    • Both residents of Northampton and non-residents are welcome, and there are various fee levels for each.
    • Memberships are available for residents of Northampton, Florence and Leeds. Space is limited at the beach, so availability is not guaranteed every day.
    • Online beach spot pre-registration for residents and non-residents purchase is available.  This is for up to 5 people per spot. Reservations will open on May 17, 2021 @ 9:00 am
    • Individual walk-in fee is an option for all, first-come, first serve, we will have a limited number of spots available each time frame.
    • Note this may change as regulations and guidelines change throughout the summer
  • Staff of trained certified lifeguards are on duty to ensure an enjoyable escape from the hot summer days.

Health Guidelines

There are a variety of social distancing, face mask, and guidelines in order to utilize the beach this summer. Please read below for more details. 

Everyone Needs To:

  • Stay home if you are sick, are showing any symptoms or have been exposed to anyone known to have COVID-19.
  • Clean and sanitize your hands often.
  • Maintain 6 feet physical distances, avoid close contact.
  • Wear face mask when not swimming and when out of the reserved beach spot.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes.

2021 Musante Beach Rules and Regulations - please read thoroughly

  • Stay home if you are sick, are showing any symptoms or have been exposed to anyone known to have COVID-19.
  • Proof of purchase of the daily pre-registration pass must be brought to the beach when you visit (show on your phone, a print out, etc.). There will be an attendant on duty during all hours that the beach is open. This staff member will check you in and show you to your location on the beach to sit.
  • All patrons MUST follow Sate and Local guidelines regarding physical distancing and wearing face masks when not swimming. You will need to stay in your spot unless you are going into the water, to the bathroom, or leaving the beach.
  • To guarantee a beach spot, beach spot reservations should be made online prior to arrival. Same day reservations need to be made before 9 am. There will be no refunds once a spot is reserved.
  • You may arrive or leave anytime during your designated time slot. Maintain proper physical  distancing when arriving and unloading your personal belongings. Proceed directly to the check in table, show your reservation receipt, (via cell phone or a printed copy) and staff will show you to your designated spot. Once you vacate your spot, there is no re-entry. 
  • Bathroom facilities will be opened. They will be cleaned thoroughly each day.
  • There are no changing facilities.
  • Beach water tests are conducted weekly according to state guidelines.
  • Swim only when a lifeguard is on  duty.
  • Lap swimming area reserved for adult lap swimming only.
  • Obey lifeguard instructions at all times.
  • Patrons need to provide their own life vests that are Coast Guard approved (no floats, noodles, swimmies, etc.)
  • Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.
  • Glass containers are not allowed.
  • Children wearing diapers must wear swim diapers or pants that gather at the legs.
  • All children age 5 years and  under or wearing flotation jackets must be directly supervised by an adult.
  • Do not hang or play on ropes.
  • No diving in shallow water or from shoulders.
  • Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is not permitted.
  • Do not drink the beach water.
  • We encourage you to carry in/carry out your own trash.

Other Important Guidelines

  • For your safety, please do not feed any wild animals or birds.
  • Our lifeguards are on duty to respond to emergencies and enforce safety rules but parents are ultimately responsible for supervising their children.
