Donation to the City of Northampton are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. The IRS has determined that "Because your organization is a governmental unit...Contributes used exclusively for public purposes are deductible under Section 170(c)(1) of the [tax] Code."
Donations can be made to support the work of the Office of Planning & Sustainability for public streetscapes, bicycle and shared use trail and facilities, open space preservation, affordable housing, and a community resilience hub, and certain other work. Donations can be made by:
1. Check to the City of Northampton, c/o Director of Planning & Sustainability, 210 Main St, Northampton, MA 01060 (note the purpose on the check of cover page)
2. Credit card at https://unipaygold.unibank.com/Default.aspx?customerid=1225 (note the purpose)
3. For certain purposes (open space, bicycle accommodations, trails) donations can be made to the "Open Space and Bicycle Projects Fund" at the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts. Donations using appreciated stocks are available using this option.
