Birth, Marriage & Death Records

EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 8, 2021

Birth marriage and death records can be requested online, by mail, or dropped in the drop box located in front of the Municipal Building, 212 Main Street. We cannot offer same day service at this time.

City buildings are currently closed to the public

Vital Records are $15 per copy. Please call ahead so we can prepare the record. If you do not call ahead we can still fulfill your request; however, please note that records prior to 1970 do not qualify for same day service in some cases. Please note that certain vital records are restricted to only the parties listed on the record.

PAY FOR A RECORD ONLINE

Requests for certain certified records made via online payment system are limited to only parties named on the record or an attorney representing a named party on the record. All other requests, including genealogical records that require research, must be mailed and paid for as described in the section below.

  3. Schedule an appointment to pick-up your record by clicking the link on the confirmation page.
  4. On the day of your appointment please arrive on time to the pick-up window located on the top of the front stairs of city hall. The window is to the left of the front door. Please wear a mask.


SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST BY MAIL or DROP BOX

If you are unable to use our online payment system you may also mail us your request, or place it in our drop box located in front of City Hall. 

In order to process your request you must include in your envelope:


  • A completed request form for the proper record type.
  • A photocopy of your valid State ID, Federal ID, or school ID.
  • $15 CASH OR MONEY ORDER per copy (We do not accept personal checks! Money Orders should be made out to "City of Northampton.)
  • Self-addressed & stamped envelope for us to send your record back to you. Be sure to include an accurate mailing address for us to send your record.
