Northampton Parking Holiday Extended to July 31st; Enforcement Begins 7/1/2020
In order to continue to support economic recovery in Northampton, Mayor David Narkewicz announced today that the city will continue the existing suspension of parking fees at meters and kiosks in Northampton until July 31st, with a plan to revisit a restart of the parking system on August 1st as that date approaches. This does not include the E.J. Gare Parking Garage, which has been consistently active.
The city is also in the process of adding multiple new 15-minute spots to facilitate quick trips for take out or retail shopping at locations throughout downtown.
UPDATE: Beginning Wednesday, July 1st, 2020, Northampton’s Parking Enforcement Officers are returning to work. They will be enforcing all non-fee related parking restrictions, including (but not limited to) handicap parking, no parking zones, parking in crosswalks, spaces reserved for city business, fire hydrants, and 15 minute parking spots. Residents and visitors are urged to read the signs posted before parking in order to avoid being ticketed.
