Ski & Snowboard After School
For JFK Middle School students Grades 6 - 8
There is a waitlist, please register on the waitlist. If we get enough registrations and chaperones, we will add a second bus.
This popular program offers a fantastic downhill ski and snowboarding opportunity to youth in grades 6 - 8 at a reasonable price. Participants will enjoy up to three hours of skiing or snowboarding on Wednesday afternoons starting in January for four consecutive weeks.
The program is held at Berkshire East Ski Resort. Berkshire East offers 52 diverse trails which both accommodate beginners and can challenge expert skiers. 18 trails are lit for night skiing.
Motor Coach Buses will depart from JFK Middle School after school and return at 8:15pm.

Option 1: Register in the office to qualify and pay for the Season Pass Holder price. Office is open Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm- Option 2: Register through our online registration system, pay the full Basic Package fee and be reimbursed later by the Office to reflect the Season Pass Holder price.

Important information while Registering
- When you register please know your child's skill level. This program is recommended for those who already have prior skiing/snowboarding experience.

Chaperones Ski/Snowboard for FREE!
Chaperones are asked to commit to all six dates (Make up included). If you have chaperoned in the past you will be given priority.
There will be a chaperone meeting, date and time January 4, 2023 at 5:30pm at the Parks & Rec office.

For Middle School Students from JFK
- Students can store Ski/Snowboarding gear in a designated spot at JFK. TBA
- Coach buses will depart approximately at 3:20pm from J.F.K. Middle School
- All students return to J.F.K. at approximately 8:15pm each date
Make-ups
- Will happen if we have inclement weather and the dates are added at the end of the program
- If needed the make-up will take place, February 15 and March 1.
- No make-ups during the Northampton Public School February Vacation or Teacher Professional Day February 8.
- Participants ski/board in buddy systems within our group and skill level & wear identifying neon bands for safety
Transportation/Food
- Coach busses with restrooms are used for transportation. Backpacks etc. may be left onboard during the program
- Skiers may bring food from home or purchase food at at the Ski Lodge
- Food may be eaten on the coach bus; however, greasy foods like pizza, fries, burgers, etc may not be taken on Bus from the Ski Lodge
Helmets
- *Berkshire East does not require helmets but they are STRONGLY recommended*
- Helmets are NOW included in Berkshire East rental package!
- Helmets can be rented by participant for $40 for the 4 weeks and must be paid to the Parks & Recreation Department
Rentals
- Please provide the appropriate information while registering or contact the office
- Complete rental waiver form (must be a signature of a parent/guardian) *Will be provided to all who rent after registration*
- Berkshire East will not be able to rent equipment to any participants who have not submitted their information or Rental Waiver
- All rental information and waiver must be submitted to the Parks & Rec Department by December 12, 2022.
Lessons
- Lessons take place shortly after arrival and are group lessons which last one hour
- All beginner levels are required to sign up for lessons
- Lessons will be from 4:30-5:30pm
