Public Notice of Riverside Drive Sewer Overflow - Resolved
NORTHAMPTON - This is a public notification from the City of Northampton Department of Public Works in accordance with 314 CMR 16.00, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Regulations for Sanitary Sewer Overflows.
Earlier today, there was a blockage in the city sewer main on Riverside Drive near Bliss Street, which caused a manhole adjacent to Riverside Drive to overflow to the Mill River. The discharge consisted of waste not treated before release and is estimated at less than 5 gallons. The situation has since been resolved. We urge the public to avoid the Mill River and downstream areas for 48 hours.
