Drinking Water Week is celebrated annually across the country during the first week of May. Each day this week, we’ll share a post about ways that the Northampton Department of Public Works (DPW) ensures that residents have reliable access to clean, safe drinking water.

Drinking water leaves the treatment plant in Williamsburg and travels through 145 miles of water mains to reach more than 28,000 customers and over 1,400 fire hydrants. Distribution staff work all hours of the day and night to maintain these pipes, test tap water across the City and respond to emergencies such as water main breaks.
